My Story

I love understanding how storytelling helps or hinders human potential.

Hello! I’m Courtney Quattrini, a Marriage and Family Therapist in San Francisco (AMFT #141521). I currently see clients at San Francisco Family Therapy, a private practice located in Laurel Heights, San Francisco (supervised by Maryellen P. Mullin, LMFT #45966), and Remarkable Services, a mental health non-profit located in Walnut Creek (supervised by James Parker, LMFT #47548).

I came to be a therapist after a 20-year career in corporate communication and executive coaching.

When I was young, all I wanted was to be a journalist. I was obsessed with getting to the bottom of a story and understanding why things were how they were. I ended up working in public relations and executive communication, and for twenty years, I told stories for some of the world’s best-known brands and organizations and coached executives on how to be better communicators. That same passion for stories that initially sent me toward my first career is the bedrock of my true calling to be a therapist, working with the stories of life.

I love working with couples and individuals working hard to relieve suffering for themselves and make sense of choices that feel like they are on autopilot. I am not ashamed to admit that it was after years of listening to the esteemed Esther Perel and her couples therapy podcast, “Where Should We Begin” that I decided to take my coaching and communication experience in a new direction.

I hold a Master of Arts in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communication from Buffalo State University. I have completed Gottman Training Levels One, Two, and Three and am working toward MFT board licensure.

I completed my clinical traineeship with the Western Institute for Social Research's Center for Child and Family Development, where I provided therapy for children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade in partnership with caregivers and educators.
