My Story
Hello! I’m Courtney Quattrini,
a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering therapy for individuals, couples, and teens in the San Francisco Bay Area and online throughout California.
I love understanding how storytelling helps or hinders human potential.
The stories we tell about ourselves and others have immense power. They shape how we see ourselves, how we move through relationships, and how we make sense of the beautiful, messy, complicated parts of being human.
How I Found My Way Here
Before becoming a therapist, I spent twenty years in the world of public communication and executive coaching.
I told stories for some of the world’s best-known brands and taught executives how to become better listeners and speakers. That work gave me a deep appreciation for communication, relational dynamics, and the ways people come to understand themselves and each other.
Over time, I realized that my love of storytelling was not only about helping people speak more clearly.
It was about helping people listen more deeply.
To the stories that had been shaping their lives, sometimes without them even realizing it.
To themselves. To each other.
That same passion for stories is what led me to become a Marriage and Family Therapist.
Now, my work centers on helping couples, individuals, and teens better understand their own life stories, especially the parts that feel messy, automatic, painful, or hard to explain.
The Stories We Tell Ourselves
Some stories help us feel connected, grounded, and known.
Others keep us stuck in patterns that once protected us, but no longer help us live the life we want.
Sometimes those stories show up in relationships. Sometimes they show up in the way we speak to ourselves. Sometimes they live in our bodies long before we have words for them.
In our work together, we can begin to notice those stories with curiosity and compassion.
Not to judge them. Not to erase them.
But to understand how they have shaped you, and where something new may be ready to begin.
Together, we can explore and unpack your own beautiful, sometimes messy, unique life story, so you get to be the author of the part that is still unwritten.
A Space to Feel Seen and Understood
My work centers on building a partnership based on trust, compassion, and the essential human need to feel seen and understood.
I believe therapy supports us in living the life story we want to tell, and that the therapeutic journey often includes a few key components:
Trust
We will work to build a relationship where you can safely share your story and identify the ways you may have learned to hide or hold back parts of your most authentic self.
Awareness
We will uncover your skills, strengths, and superpowers, while also identifying the behaviors, patterns, and beliefs that may be keeping you stuck.
Action
You will learn and practice new ways of showing up for yourself and others, and figure out how to make those changes last.
While I will aid and accompany you, our work will be collaborative and involve you tapping into the inner wisdom and tools you already possess.
A Little More About Me
I earned my BA in Public Communication from Buffalo State University and my MA in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
I have completed Gottman Training Levels One, Two, and Three, and I am constantly looking for ways to improve my clinical skills.
My approach is integrative, collaborative, and grounded in trust, compassion, and the belief that you are the author of your own story.
Depending on your needs, our work may draw from attachment-based therapy, Internal Family Systems, somatic awareness, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral tools, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
My practice is a safe and affirming space for all gender identities and sexual orientations.
My journey to becoming a therapist was inspired by my own therapist and the work of clinical pioneers like Carl Rogers, John and Julie Gottman, Terry Real, Richard Schwartz, and Esther Perel.
But most importantly, I have learned from all of the people I have been in relationships with, including my womb mate/twin, my big East Coast Italian family, and my chosen family.
I live in Oakland with my incredible husband, two fantastic kiddos, and a fur baby who doesn’t quite understand he isn’t a human baby.
In San Francisco and Online Across California
I offer in-person sessions in San Francisco and online therapy throughout California.
For clients in the Bay Area, in-person work can offer a steady space to slow down, reflect, and focus on what needs care and attention.
For clients elsewhere in California, telehealth can make support more accessible without losing the depth, connection, and thoughtfulness of the work.
